Photons and Slow Drivers

Photons and Slow Drivers

I love this - when I was very young and we were stuck behind particularly slow or poor drivers, my father used to turn on the headlights or fog lamps. Obviously it was more polite than using the horn, but when I asked him why, he used to tell me “because the extra photons from the headlights help propel forward faster” and he’d smirk to himself, despite me taking him seriously (if dubiously). In any case, it’s neat to see this idea being used (amongst other things; e.g. solar sails, etc) as part of an idea to nudge an incoming asteroid.
